i hate possums. this probably isn't earth shattering as i can't say i've ever met a possum lover. but since one just scampered across my path on my way in tonight, i thought i should take a moment to reiterate that they truly are superfluous, if not disgusting. i hate that they hiss. i hate that they hide in dark corners and that their eyes glow. i also hate their long tales. in the grand scheme of evolutionary development it is a wonder that a blind, defenseless over sized rat that plays dead somehow managed not only to survive, but to thrive. its a biological joke that i don't find funny. at the very least, they should learn to jump. did you know they're the only mammal that can't even lift their own body weight off the ground? what an embarrassment. learn to jump, possum!

they sloth around looking dirty and lazy, sleeping under your car, scaring your cat. animals have three choices in this world: food, friend or enemy. the possum doesn't fit any of these categories. which is an additional reason that i hate them. i think it's about time we ban together and show these misfits who's boss. they need to shape up or get out. either domesticate and become lovable or take a note from the raccoon and toughen up. you've been warned, possum. you've been warned.

according to my mother, november 13th is the official start of the holiday season. so while most of you continued to countdown to roasted turkey and cranberry sauce this weekend, i wrapped 15 ft tall conifer trees in tiny twinkling lights.

however, to my amazement, we weren't the only over-zealous clan bedazzling the front yard before turkey day. about 30 min after pitching the ladder, the neighbors across the street surfaced for a friendly game of, Christmas Lights Show-Down. my disinterest for clipping over sized bulbs to a gutter immediately vanished as my internal need for victory focused my eyes on one thing, squashing the competition. they had us in numbers. me, my mom and my dad versus a parent duo plus four. but they were no match for our skill and organization. we faked our friendly hello's and settled in for a marathon light-show battle to the death. 5 wrapped trees, and one sparkling house later, we declared victory over their sad display of a few jumbo candy canes stabbed carelessly into the grass. as we stepped back to survey our work, we soaked in the sweet aroma of success and took a moment to remember what the holidays are truly about. crushing your opponents and winning at all costs.

it would be a fully inflated and exaggerated statement to say that nothing beats a rainy day. a new chanel bag, hello kitty glitter stickers and Oprah hugs all rank significantly higher than precipitation. however, as none of those thing were a part of my day, i can safely say that the rain fully rocked my saturday. that and chilaxing with one of my favorite girls. i was invited over to do some priming and painting in the guest bedroom of her amazing 1930's home. which meant that i sat and read a design book while she primed and painted the guest bedroom in her amazing 1930's home. although i had no intention of actually participating in any manual labor, that didn't mean that i wasn't going to dress for it. i pulled out my leggings, my tennies and my favorite over sized sweater. like i always say, there's nothing better than looking cute enough to do the work that you would never bother looking cute for if you actually had plans to do it...slightly strange thing to always say.

i had an 8 hr leadership training class today that has left my brain a little softer than mushy. i resolved conflict, role played, and watched videos until my eyes went cross. plus i won a trophy because our instructor said she had never seen someone act out a scenario with such conviction. i took my role as jaymin, an overworked and slightly neurotic customer service representative, very seriously.

unfortunately, i had less conviction regarding what to wear today. my primary goal was not to be naked. i was awake far earlier than one should be and may not have had both eyes open until i got in my car. i ended up with a delicate combination of flannel and glitter and mom jeans. also known as my power suit.
